In Australian heat, your car’s engine undergoes an incredible amount of stress especially if your radiator and cooling system are not functioning at an optimal level. Engines produce large amounts of heat and excess heat is dissipated through the radiator, at any point if the cooling system fails the result is usually catastrophic for the engine.
The car engines are cooled with the help of coolant that is circulated throughout the engine through passages in the engine blocks and head. As the engine heats up the coolant heats up too and is pumped into the radiator with help of a mechanical water pump attached to the engine that works off the drive belt.
The radiator consists of capillaries and fins that increase the surface area of the radiator. Cool air passes through the fins of the radiator through the front grill of the car. The air usually flows at the optimal level when the car is in motion but when the car is at standstill, an electric fan attached to the radiator forces cold air to pass through the radiator cooling the coolant down. The cold coolant flows back into the engine and cools the engine down.
The excess coolant is collected in the coolant reservoir, which also helps maintain coolant pressure as the hot liquids expand and need space to release pressure.
At Savvas Automotive we perform full service and repair of radiators and cooling system. During service, we flush the old coolant completely then fill it up with new coolant. The radiator cap is checked and replaced if damaged. The radiator is completely flushed and checked for leakages. Thermostat, water pump, and radiator hose are carefully checked. We make sure that all the components of the cooling system are performing to their optimal level. In case any part is damaged we replace it with genuine parts as suggested by the car manufacturer’s recommendation and adhere to strict industry standards.
